Basketball
To letter in basketball, a player needs to play in 50% of the varsity contests and attain 3 out of 5 criteria:

Perfect attendance in practices and games (exceptions will be made for sickness, family emergencies, funerals, etc.)

Attend 80% of summer workouts

Be named to the All-Conference, All-District, or All-State Team
-
Has no team or school discipline issues during the season

Maintain a 2.5 GPA
A player who has an injury that keeps them from playing provided that they continue to attend practices and games if the injury keeps them from meeting the time played requirement
Athletes will receive a letter if they are a member of a varsity team that is conference champions, district champions, or state champions.
Managers who manage the entire season will receive a letter.
Athletes may receive a letter at the coaching staff's discretion.
Football
Student-athletes must participate in 50% of the varsity contests and need to attain 3 of the 4 Criteria:

Perfect attendance at practice and games(excused absences such as sickness, death in the family, etc will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis).

85% attendance at offseason workouts.
-
90% attendance at offseason practices.

Maintain a 2.5 GPA
Athletes in season do not have to attend workouts and practices. If you are in strength and conditioning classes you’re progress will be looked at for #2 and #3.
A player that has been a part of the program all 4 years but does not meet the 50% will letter.
A player with a season ending injury that would keep them from meeting the 50% will letter as long as they continue to show up to practices and games and do what they can to help the team.
Managers who start and finish the season and have good attendance will receive a letter.
Athletes may receive a letter at the coaches discretion.
Golf
Program Philosophy

The sport of golf is provided by Fulton High School to provide athletes with an opportunity to experience competition, build good citizenship, and development of skills.
Team Rules:

Come to practice with a good attitude, golf is fun!
-
Practice will begin at 3:15 or earlier and last until 5:30 or later.

It will be at FCC unless announced otherwise.
-
It is your responsibility to provide transportation to and from practice.
-
Come prepared with the proper equipment: clubs, balls, and shoes.
-
Wear the proper attire, look like a golfer!

If you need to be absent contact me as soon as possible. Excused practices would be family emergencies, illness, or school obligations (if discussed in advance). Any other reason will be unexcused unless we have talked about it first.

Unexcused absences will not be tolerated. The first offense will be a one-match suspension. The second will be dismissal from the team.

Follow the rules of golf etiquette, safety, and maintenance of the course. We are fortunate to have the support of the Country Club for our practices and our home matches. Any problems on the course could result in immediate suspension.

Golf is a game of honor, cheating will not be tolerated! It is your responsibility to obey the rules and keep an accurate score. Any purposeful infraction of the rules of golf will have consequences.

First Offense- Warning

Second Offense- One Match Suspension

Third Offense- Dismissal From the Team

If such an offense occurs during a match your score will be doubled the first time, the next you will be dismissed from the team.
Lettering
-In order for a player to letter the must meet these two requirements:
-
(1) play in at least 6 of the varsity matches,
-
(2) and exhibit good sportsmanship and good school citizenship.
Matches
-The best five players will represent our team at the varsity level. These players will have earned the position by having the lowest averages for the qualifying rounds. The next four low averages will represent the team at the junior varsity level. These spots will be adjusted after each match. The fifth junior varsity spot will rotate in hopes that everyone will have a chance to participate in a match.
Scholar Bowl
The school letter is a high award for a student who gives significant amounts of time and demonstrates a significant talent in activities representing the school. A student who letters in scholar bowl for a given season must be in good standing with the program and

Maintain MSHSAA, school, and program eligibility for the entire season

Be a current, registered member of the scholar bowl team and in good standing.

Earn a medal through tournament competition OR participate in at least four tournaments in any given season.
Softball
High School Softball Lettering Policy must meet the program’s expectations in ALL of the following areas:
● Attendance: Unexcused absences or continual tardiness may affect lettering
● Attitude: Consistent “Team First” actions, “buy-in” and a consistently positive attitude (not complaining…)
● Demonstrated GREAT character, team support, sportsmanship, and actions directed toward peers, opposing teams, and officials
● Displayed work ethic toward team goals and individual improvement, Responsibility, including prompt and thorough communication of practice/contest conflicts. Return of all issued apparel and equipment. Role fulfillment.
● Participate in 33% of Varsity games.
Speech & Debate
The school letter is a high award for a student who gives significant amounts of time and demonstrates a significant talent in activities representing the school. A student who letters in debate for a given season must be in good standing with the program and

Maintain MSHSAA, school, and program eligibility for the entire season

Be a current, registered member in good standing of the National Speech and Debate Association
-
Earn 150 NFL points from the competition (the total number of points required will be adjusted in the event of shorter seasons)

Attend a majority of the tournaments attended by the team
-
Place in the top four (earning, a first, second, third, or fourth place award) in at least one tournament
-
Students meeting these requirements in subsequent years will earn insignia to be worn on their school letters
Volleyball
To be eligible for an athletic letter, an athlete needs to complete the season in good standing and return all equipment and uniforms.
To earn a letter an athlete who is listed on the varsity roster needs to attain 5 of the following 8 standards:
1. Perfect attendance at practices and games.
2. Play in 80% of the varsity contests (about 24 matches)
3. Lead the varsity team in one of the following statistical categories: Aces, Serve Rating, Serve Receive Rating, Digs, Dig %, Assists, Kills, Kill %, Blocks (Solo or Solo/Assist combined).
4. Be selected to an all-tournament, all-conference, all-district team, all-regional or all-state team.
5. No school or team discipline issues during season.
6. Complete and document a service project approved by the head coach.
7. Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
