The Executive Director of Student Services serves as the Homeless Coordinator for Fulton Public Schools.  This program operates under the mandates and guidance of federal law, the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, and is designed to eliminate barriers to education for students who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.
 
Are you staying in any of the following situations?
  • In a shelter or transitional housing
  • In a motel, hotel, or campground, because you don't have another safe and stable place to stay
  • In a car, park, public place, abandoned building, or bus/train station
  • In someone else's house because you lost your housing or are going through a hard time financially, and don't have another safe and stable place to stay
  • Or you are an unaccompanied youth without a parent or guardian

If so, you might qualify for help under the federal McKinney-Vento Act

Student Rights:
  • Immediate enrollment without documents
  • Transportation to the school of origin
  • Full participation in school activities
  • Access to meals, special education, ELL, and other programs
Family Rights:
  • Help with enrollment services
  • Right to dispute school of origin decision
  • Support from district liaisons
