Electronic Personal Communication Devices

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe signed a number of bills into law.  Senate Bill 68 includes a mandate that school districts and charter schools across the state implement a policy beginning in the 2025-26 school year that prohibits students from using "electronic personal communication devices", including cell phones, smartwatches, and earbuds, from the beginning to the end of the school day.

To meet the requirements of Senate Bill 68:

  • Students will not be allowed to use or access cell phones during the school day.
  • Phones will need to be turned off and kept out of sight.
  • Use of phone during lunch, passing time, and non-instructional hours, usually considered a "break," will not be allowed.

Building principals will communicate specific expectations with families in their Back-To-School information.  We encourage families to review this development with their students as they prepare for the upcoming school year.  Families of students with medical or other exceptions requiring device access are encouraged to work with building administration to determine appropriate accommodations.

While the law aims to reduce distractions, improve academic focus, and enhance student well-being, we recognize that this change may be an adjustment for students and families.  We do want to reassure families that in the event of an emergency, each building has procedures to ensure timely, accurate, and appropriate communication with families and students.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we comply with state legislation.

2 Way Communication - NEW FOR 2025-26

Fulton Public Schools transitioned to Finalsite's 2 Way Communication Platform for the 2025-26 school year, replacing Remind.  All 2 Way Communication will now flow through our Fulton58 App.  "2 Way Chats" is contained within the Fulton58 App and will consolidate communications between families and teachers, coaches, and sponsors in one place.  No need for multiple apps, text threads, or email chains.  This will allow families to quickly locate updates and messaging, streamlining the experience.

Visit the 2 Way Chats section of our website for instructions on downloading the Fulton 58 mobile app, logging in, setting notification preferences and a overview of the 2 Way Chats dashboard.
